Decisions, Decisions: How Good Decision Making
Can Help You Deal with Challenges in Your Life
Decisions. Decisions. Every day of your life, you make decisions of one type or another. What you might not really understand is that the types of decisions you make will definitely impact the quality of your life.
Negative Decision Making
You are probably aware of many of the decisions that you make -- you decide what to wear, who you spend time with, where you live, among many others. But the decisions that really impact your life are how you choose to experience the events that happen to you.
When some challenge occurs in your life, it is very easy to react negatively. But that is not necessarily good decision making. When you choose to interpret something in your life as negative, you are actually setting yourself up to experience more of the same.
The Law of Cause and Effect
The Law of Cause and Effect is one of the Laws of Success. The Law of Cause and Effect states that whatever you focus on for an extended period of time, you will get more of in your life. The law does not judge the quality of the types of decisions that you make.
When you decide to react negatively to a challenge in your life even if it is an unconscious decision), the Law of Cause and Effect thinks you are asking for more of the same. So it will go to work to bring you similar experiences.
Good Decision Making
When you are experiencing a challenge in your life, it might be a good decision for you to try to look at it in a more positive light. I know this is not easy to do. But if you hope to have your situation get better, it might be something to work on.
You have a choice as to how you interpret every experience in your life. Let’s say you have gotten downsized (which I hope has not happened to you). You can see it as the greatest challenge in your life or you can see it as a chance to grow. You can choose to see it as an opportunity for you to go into a different field, to go back to school, or to start your own business.
If I seem flippant with these comments, I am not. A number of years ago, my husband was downsized and was not able to get a regular, full-time job for two years. As a result of that situation, I began taking classes at our spiritual center, and I am now a Licensed Minister. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made – even though it didn’t seem like it at the time.
You have more power over your life than you realize. When you decide to experience life in a optimistic way (and keep your thoughts focused on positive ideas), then the Law of Cause and Effect will go to work to bring you the good that you have decided to experience. It might not happen overnight. But if you choose to continue to focus on the good that you want, then it can show up in your life.
Look at different areas of your life. If you are happy with some areas, then continue to think about them the same way. If there are other areas that are not working for you, then make a different decision about them. Attempt to see them in a way that brings more peace and joy into your life. By doing this, you will begin to feel better about these areas right now. And you will also be activating the Law of Cause and Effect, which can bring you more things to feel peace and joy about.
Your life is the result of the quality of the decisions that you make on a moment by moment basis. I encourage to make decisions which will enrich your life in every way.
