Meditation Benefits
Discover How Healing Meditations Can Benefit Every Area of Your Life
People often ask me if the meditation benefits they hear about are the real deal or if they are just a lot of hype. I am happy to say they are the real deal. There is so much evidence that proves that meditation benefits almost every area of your life. It is one of the most powerful mind body connection techniques that you can practice.
How Meditation Benefits the Mind Body Connection
You are not just a body. You are a mind, you are a spirit, and you are a soul. Every part of you is interconnected. Meditation can help every aspect of your being.

Emotional – Meditation benefits your mood and sense of well being. There are many studies that demonstrate that regular meditation is a great tool for healing anxiety and depression. The deep breathing pattern that is used in most practices helps you feel a sense of peace and harmony deep within you. It calms your spirit and helps you get rid of stress by bringing your ‘fight or flight’ response into a state of balance. Any time I start to feel a sense of anxiety, I close my eyes and take deep meditative breaths and then I feel calmer and more in control of myself.
Physical – Meditation benefits your body in many ways. Dr. Herbert Benson, a professor at Harvard Medical School, has spent many years studying the positive effects of meditation. Some of the physical benefits of meditation include: - lower blood pressure
- better quality sleep
- more relaxed muscles
- better pain control
- lower cholesterol
This only scratches the surface as to how meditation can be one of your most important tools for your health. I have used healing meditations to help my body recover from brutal migraines when no medication gave me any relief. I have used it to help release the tightness in my upper back and shoulders when nothing else worked.
Mental – You might not think it is the case, but regular meditation is a great tool for problem solving, creativity, and goal setting.
Spiritual – I think this is one of the greatest meditation benefits. It helps you connect with your spiritual self. There is a part of you that is connected to God or Divine Spirit. When you are quiet and listen to that still small voice within, you are able to feel this connection or communion. When life is a challenge and you feel you have nowhere to turn, becoming quiet and connecting with the presence of Spirit within is the most powerful and freeing thing you can do. When you know that you are not alone, that there is a presence within you that loves you unconditionally and completely, you are able to do whatever you need to do to take care of the challenge. I can’t imagine facing life’s difficulties without continually tapping into the presence of God’s love within.
