Meditation Benefits

Discover How Healing Meditations
Can Benefit Every Area of Your Life

People often ask me if the meditation benefits they hear about are the real deal or if they are just a lot of hype.

I am happy to say they are the real deal. There is so much evidence that proves that meditation benefits almost every area of your life. It is one of the most powerful mind body connection techniques that you can practice.

How Meditation Benefits the
Mind Body Connection

You are not just a body. You are a mind, you are a spirit, and you are a soul. Every part of you is interconnected. Meditation can help every aspect of your being.

Meditation Benefits

Emotional – Meditation benefits your mood and sense of well being. There are many studies that demonstrate that regular meditation is a great tool for healing anxiety and depression. The deep breathing pattern that is used in most practices helps you feel a sense of peace and harmony deep within you. It calms your spirit and helps you get rid of stress by bringing your ‘fight or flight’ response into a state of balance.

Any time I start to feel a sense of anxiety, I close my eyes and take deep meditative breaths and then I feel calmer and more in control of myself.

Physical – Meditation benefits your body in many ways. Dr. Herbert Benson, a professor at Harvard Medical School, has spent many years studying the positive effects of meditation. Some of the physical benefits of meditation include:

  • lower blood pressure
  • better quality sleep
  • more relaxed muscles
  • better pain control
  • lower cholesterol

This only scratches the surface as to how meditation can be one of your most important tools for your health.

I have used healing meditations to help my body recover from brutal migraines when no medication gave me any relief. I have used it to help release the tightness in my upper back and shoulders when nothing else worked.

Mental – You might not think it is the case, but regular meditation is a great tool for problem solving, creativity, and goal setting.

  • Problem Solving - If you are troubled with a particular problem, you can become quiet and let your mind relax. You can gently ask yourself what you need to know in connection with this issue and just listen. You might not get an answer during this quiet time, but it is very likely that you will have a solution float into your mind when you aren’t thinking about the challenge.

  • Creativity - If you are ready to begin a new project or activity, you can close your eyes and become still before you start working on it. Very often new and creative ideas will come to you that you have not thought of before.

I often do this before I sit down to write an article. It amazes me how many ideas come into my mind that I had not thought of before. Sometimes it is a challenge to continue staying quiet because I am so excited by the ideas I have just received that I want to jump up out of my chair and begin working with them.

  • Goal Setting - You can practice a guided imagery meditation when you are working with new goals. I do this regularly and the results are amazing. I create a scenario of my goal as if it were already completed and I experience it in my imagination. This actually taps into the secret law of attraction and helps bring my desired goal into my life.

Spiritual – I think this is one of the greatest meditation benefits. It helps you connect with your spiritual self. There is a part of you that is connected to God or Divine Spirit. When you are quiet and listen to that still small voice within, you are able to feel this connection or communion.

When life is a challenge and you feel you have nowhere to turn, becoming quiet and connecting with the presence of Spirit within is the most powerful and freeing thing you can do. When you know that you are not alone, that there is a presence within you that loves you unconditionally and completely, you are able to do whatever you need to do to take care of the challenge. I can’t imagine facing life’s difficulties without continually tapping into the presence of God’s love within.

Meditation Tips

Now that I have hopefully ‘sold’ you on the value of healing meditations, there are some other things you might want to consider.

healing meditations

It’s a proven practice – The history of meditation goes back over 5,000 years. Buddha, Jesus and other great spiritual teachers practiced meditation regularly and taught it to their students.

There are many types of meditation – Meditation isn’t just one single practice. There are many types of mediation which you can sample and then pick those that you suit you best.

It’s great for a beginner or advanced practitioner – While some people are very advanced in the practice of meditation, you can begin with some easy meditation techniques to help you get comfortable with the process.

You can use various tools to support your practice – There are different types of meditation products such as chairs, cushions, timers, and music that can help you with the practice. This Meditation Kit might be a great tool to help you get very relaxed.

Meditation benefits every aspect of your life. If you are not doing it now, I encourage you to test the waters and try it. If you are practicing it occasionally, I invite you to do it on a more regular basis.

Who knows? You just might learn to love it.
