As a spiritual being, you are meant to feel good about yourself and to feel worthy to receive life’s blessings. However, if you don’t think well of yourself, not only will you suffer emotionally, but you will also be limiting the amount of good that you allow into your life.

Boosts Self-Esteem – When you believe in yourself, it helps boost your self-esteem. You know that you aren’t a victim to life’s circumstances. You have the ability to change things that you don’t like and to achieve the things that you want.


Helps Develop a Positive Attitude – Improving your self-confidence can lead you to have an overall positive attitude about life. When you have a positive attitude, you are not thrown off course by life’s challenges. You know that you have what it takes to overcome them.

Have Less Fears and Doubts – When you aren’t sure about your ability to accomplish what you want, you will probably be filled with many fears and doubts. You might be afraid of making mistakes. You will likely be overly concerned with what other people think of you. You will probably not attempt doing something that you haven’t done before, because you are afraid that you might fail.

By improving your self-confidence, you will be willing to take risks. You will realize that even if you make a mistake, it doesn’t have any reflection on your worthiness as a person. You will also feel less stress that constantly harboring fears and doubts can generate. You will feel a greater sense of peace.


HappinessThe most important reason for you to make improving your self-confidence a priority in your life is this -- you will be happier overall. Life will feel easier and more joyful. You will feel that you are important and that you matter to the Universe.

Tips and Techniques

Now that I’ve sold you on the benefits of why you want to work on improving your self-confidence, you might be asking yourself, “So how do I do it?” Here are some practical tips that you can follow.


Pay Attention to Negative Self-Talk – Negative self-talk is one of the biggest drains on your level of confidence. If you have that little voice running around inside of your head telling you -- “You can’t do this. You don’t have what it takes. You will probably fail.” – you have to take control of it and reign it in.

When you find yourself falling into this trap, tell that voice to SHUT UP! Then use a positive affirmation instead, “I can do this. I will find a way. If I don’t know everything now, I will learn it.”


Focus on the Positives – Every night before you go to bed, write down 5 things that you like or appreciate about yourself. And don’t tell me that you can’t come up with anything. Yes, you can! Do this every night and don’t cheat. You must come up with 5 different things every night. It might be a stretch, but do it anyway.


Remember Past Successes – I’m sure you have had successes in your life, but you probably don’t focus on them very often. Another method for improving your self-confidence is to remember things that you have already done successfully. You can use your past successes to help you with new situations.

For instance, if you are facing a new situation and you aren’t sure that you will be successful, think about other times in your life when you had to do something new and you were able to do it well.


Positive Comments from Others – When other people say something positive about you, you might just dismiss it. Don’t. Listen to the encouraging things that they say to you. Very often you can’t see the good in yourself, but others can. This can be extremely helpful in improving your self-confidence.

Write down these comments into positive affirmations that you can work with. If someone tells you that you did a good job with a project, write a positive affirmation such as, “I am able to accomplish what I set out to do.” Work with this affirmation and others on a regular basis, and your self confidence will grow.


Stand Up Tall – One of the easiest and least known ways of improving your self-confidence is to check your posture. There is a mind body connection and one part affects the other. When you don’t feel confident, you have a tendency to slouch. When you slouch, your brain gets a message that you aren’t feeling confident.

However, the reverse is true. If you stand up tall, with your shoulders pulled back slightly, you will feel more confident. And another benefit of doing this is that you will be projecting your confidence to other people.


It’s Worth Your Investment in Time

The time you spend in improving your self-confidence is definitely worth it. It will make such a positive difference in your life. Not only will you feel better about yourself overall, but you will be willing and able to accomplish new and wonderful things. And you will be able to do it with joy and enthusiasm instead of doubt and dread.

And remember – one of the most important benefits of improving self confidence is that you will be happier. And isn’t that what you really want?
