Take Control of Your Life
I first discovered the Silva Mind Control Method over twenty five years ago. I saw a course description in the catalogue of our local community college. It promised to teach me how to use the power of my mind to achieve what I wanted. That sounded good to me, so I grabbed my best friend and we both signed up for the course.
Our brains operate at different levels or states throughout the day and night. When you are fully awake and aware of the outer world, you are at a Beta level. When you are asleep, you are in a Theta state. When you are at that place in consciousness which is just before falling asleep or just after awakening, you are in an Alpha state or level. No one state is better than any other state. However, certain levels are better suited for accomplishing specific tasks.
Jose Silva was the founder of the Silva Mind Control Method. He spent years researching what the human mind can be trained to do. What he discovered during his research is that when you enter into a deep meditative state, also known as an Alpha state, you are able to use your mind in more productive ways.
Where Silva Mind Control Begins
The first step in the Silva Mind Control Method is going into a meditative or Alpha state. This is usually achieved by getting comfortable and counting backwards from 3 to 1.
The Alpha state is a state of controlled relaxation. When you are in this state, you feel very relaxed, yet you retain full conscious awareness. This is a great place to train your mind to do what you want it to do. When you are in an Alpha state, your mind is very open to positive suggestions without interference from your every day conscious mind.
Some of the benefits that you can achieve when you are in this state include problem solving, controlling pain and other physical systems, improving your memory, speed learning, and active goal setting.
The Mind Body Connection
There is a great deal of research which supports the mind, body, spirit connection. You can use the Silva Mind Control Method to help you deal with every day physical problems. You can use your mind to control the responses of your body. I have personally used some of the techniques I learned to effectively deal with the pain from migraine headaches and a problem with insomnia -- and all without the use of drugs!
In the Silva Mind Control Method, you learn to use the power of imagination by practicing visualization techniques. In your mind, you create a big movie screen approximately six feet in front of you. Whatever you decide to concentrate on, you project onto this screen. It is like you have become a movie director and you are projecting your ideas on the screen in front of you.
You can use the power of imagination to create a special place of relaxation where you can go when you feel stressed. You can use it to overcome negative habits or to begin to acquire new positive ones. You can also use the power of imagination to help you achieve your goals.
Active Goal Setting
The Silva Mind Control process for goal setting is somewhat different than what you might have learned in other courses. Here are the steps in the process . . .
Step 1 – Desire
You must have a deep desire to accomplish your goal. If you only have a half-hearted desire to achieve your goal, then you will probably have minimal or no results.
Step 2 - Belief
You need to believe that you can realize your goal. If you set a goal so high that you really don’t believe you can achieve it, your mind will begin to fill itself with doubts. This can cause you to struggle as you try to achieve your goal or -- even worse -- it might prevent you from accomplishing it at all.
Step 3 – Expectancy
You must expect that you will accomplish your goal. This taps into the power of your subconscious mind. You might not necessarily get what you want, but you will always get what you expect.
Step 4 – Positive
You must set your goal using a positive statement. Most people know what they don’t want, but they usually don’t focus on what they do want. It is important for you to be very clear about what you really want.
Step 5 – Visualize the Accomplished Goal
Finally, you create a scenario in which you are experiencing your goal as if it was already a reality. You imagine what it actually feels like to have accomplished your goal. You continue using this visualization until you finally achieve your goal. (Of course, you do need to take some action to help it along!)

The Silva Mind Control Method helps you take control of the power of your mind so you can live the life that you want.
